Photos from the Ajo and Organ Pipe National Monument Area

Empress Leilia, a type of hackberry butterfly. In the canyon where I photographed this, there were some spiny hackberry trees, the only ones I've seen.

Rock Squirrel posing for me

Orange Skipperling

Acanthus family, genus Justicia, not sure of species

A Tiger Whiptail, new species of lizard for me. These things are very fast and wary, hard to get any photos of, so this isn't the best.

I think this is a species of Scorpionweed, not sure though.

Coursetia, a flowering legume shrub.

Ajo Lily, a large flowering plant that only blooms after soaking winter rains. I guess the rains back in December brought these to life.
