Some new photos from the last few days, Ajo area
April 2, 2016

I located this target in Stellarium. Five galaxies that are relatively large and some smaller ones, all in a 2 degree field of view, located in Leo between Regulus and Chertan. From the upper right and going clockwise: M95, M96, NGC3389, NGC3384, and M105. M96 is the largest, apparent size in the sky is 7.5' by 5'. This is 20 one minute exposures stacked, ISO 3200, f4.5, 500mm.

The Whirlpool Galaxy. Much better than my previous efforts. This is 58 one minute exposures stacked, ISO 3200, f4.5, 500mm. This is actually two interacting galaxies, M51 (the Whirlpool Galaxy) and NGC 5195, which is in the process of being torn apart by M51. The apparent size in the sky is about 1/3 of the full moon.
